Enterprise Network

IRD Duhallow's Enterprise Network provides a supportive structure to those at early stage of business development. It optimises enterprise needs and addresses challenges, removing the isolation faced by many micro enterprises. In particular it enhances knowledge, skill and expertise of local enterprises and addresses the gaps in the provision of training for those who are seeking help in starting a new business. This year over 40 individuals have availed of training in our Start Up Business Training Programmes.

A number of entrepreneurs have also benefited from Mentoring under our Mentor Programme. Harnessing the knowledge and experience of successful local entrepreneurs and sharing the secrets of success is at the heart of Duhallow's mentoring programme. Aspiring entrepreneurs have the opportunity to avail of the experience and guidance of our most successful entrepreneurs to help them in the challenges they face in the set-up stages of their new businesses. We are delighted with the support and financial commitment that the Department of Social and Family Affairs contributed for the provision of training under the Self Employment Options Programme. This encouraged 16 Social Welfare participants who are starting up their own business.

Network meeting

The Network fulfils an essential role in terms of bringing people together across the small business sector in a supportive way and provides resources to facilitate workshops on a range of business issues and promotes further development of key business skills to enhance the management capacity of owners/managers. Specific workshops which have benefited members greatly include bookkeeping, computerisd accounts, marketing, taxation and finance. The Network has improved the survival and growth prospects of many of our start-up businesses and networking provides a real solution to the building of personal contacts for their future business success.

If you are interested in joining the network, please contact Louise Bourke at 029-60633.
