Care and Repair Duhallow Programme

Care and Repair Duhallow Programme

- Are you 65+ years of age?
- Do you live in the Duhallow area?
- Have you a small repair job which you would like to have done for you?

The Care and Repair Duhallow Programme was set up by IRD Duhallow in association with Age Action in 2008. The programme provides a small repair job service to persons over 65, using a pool of trustworthy volunteers and handypersons who have been trained by Age Action. The service is free to people who cannot afford it, you only pay for the materials used. However, a small contribution to defray costs payable to Duhallow Care and Repair Programme would be welcome. For jobs which need a professional tradesman, such as electrical or plumbing work, a database of reliable trades people has been set up to refer clients requiring this service.

For more information please contact Mary or Denise at 029-60633.

Supports for Older People

IRD Duhallow is currently compiling a database of older people who are interested in receiving a socially monitored alarm, smoke alarm, and/or door and window locks. We hope to apply for funding to the Government in the near future.
If you are interested in registering your details or for further information please contact Triona Murphy at 029-60633.

Telephone Contact Service

IRD Duhallow currently operates a weekly phone call service for older people in the Duhallow Region. The purpose of this service is for older people to receive a phone call from trained volunteers to check in with them to ensure that they are safe and well while also having a friendly chat and give them information on services and activities that they can avail of in the locality. IRD Duhallow is inviting individuals as well as actively retired groups, day care centres and family members to contact IRD Duhallow regarding this service. Staff will call to day centres and meetings of actively retired groups over the coming weeks to help register for this service. If your group would like to avail of this visit please contact the number below. This phone call is free of charge and is available to all older people at a time suitable to them.
For further information please contact Helen O'Sullivan at 029-60633.
