Established in 1997, Duhallow Community Food Services (D.C.F.S) is an award winning community enterprise providing a subsidised meal service to those that are not in a position to cook for themselves and are isolated because of age, illness, lack of transport or other disadvantages that result in living in a rural area.
In order to supplement the cost of producing the "meals on wheels" service, Duhallow Community Food Services expanded the business into two other key facets, contract catering and bakery.
For family and community events, celebrations and gatherings, Duhallow Community Food Services offer a selection of meal options. D.C.F.S. outside catering service has proven to be a great success. There is a wide selection of savoury and sweet items available, the team also offer assistance with menu planning and selection and are happy to fulfil special requests. Typically this service is used for:
- Christenings
- Communions
- Confirmations
- Home entertaining
- Wider community events
The bakery unit of D.C.F.S. continues to provide fresh products to local retail outlets with the range of items available to the market continuing to increase.
D.C.F.S. also provides catering for the Comprehensive School in Boherbue. In line with the government's policy on healthy eating in schools, the strategy at the centre is to ensure that students have access to healthy food and drinks, produced locally using only fresh high quality ingredients.
Our meals service can be booked on a long term or short term basis. Dinner and dessert costs €6.00 per day, where meals are delivered piping hot to the door. Bookings are also taken for our catering, supplying a wide range of foods delivered to your door.
