The development of Eco-tourism in Duhallow centres on Millstreet Country Park, Duhallow's first LEADER flagship project. The 200 hectare park is a showcase of how the delicate balance between nature and economic development can be achieved. The park which is privately owned, provides employment for up to twenty people at the height of the tourist season. It is a mix of open bogland, upland  and lowland arboretum, mixed woodlands, wildflower meadows, groves, gardens, tumbling rivers and lakes. Within the park, 700 deer are silhouetted against ancient stone monuments. The extensive park is home to several rare species of flora and fauna and has an excellent visitor centre and restaurant. Since the park opened its gates to the public in 1995, it has since attracted 1.5 million visitors to the Duhallow area.
