The LEADER Programme supported local small and medium enterprises
Through the LEADER Programme 2007-2014 local small and medium enterprises were supported through the provision of small and large scale capital grants for the purchase of equipment, renovation or building of new premises, as well as feasibility study support. The key to accessing this type of support is that all businesses must be innovative in their approach and that the result of this support would not displace a similar business provider in the region. A rate of 75% grant aid is available under the LEADER Programme for eligible projects.
The Local Community Development Programme has provided vital supports for marginalised target groups, awarding small scale grants to support start up enterprise The Local Community Development Programme (LCDP) now the Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP) also provides small scale capital supports to businesses who meet the eligibility criteria for this programme.
