Newmarket Afterschools

Established in 2005, Newmarket Afterschools is this year celebrating its tenth year in operation.

Newmarket Afterschools provides a top quality wrap around service to primary school children who are collected from school daily by bus with a passenger assistant; receive a home cooked nutritious dinner along with one to one help and supervision with their homework. For many of the children the extra support with homework provided by the Afterschools has proved hugely beneficial.

The facility was initially established in response to a recognised need for Afterschool care in local rural areas as there was no other service like this locally. This service is essential for parents in rural areas who otherwise would be excluded from participation in work or training due to a lack of childcare. Parents are assured that their children are cared for in a safe environment, which allows them the opportunity to take up employment or partake in education and training courses.

The service admisters the National Community Childcare Subvention Programme and operates on a tiered pricing policy where subsidies are offered to families in receipt of a social welfare payment or who hold a medical card ensuring that all families have the opportunity to access the service regardless of their financial circumstances.
