The North Cork Rural Community Health Project
The North Cork Rural Community Health project established in 2022 works across the rural areas of North Cork and is a collaboration between the HSE, IRD Duhallow, Ballyhoura Development, and Avondhu Blackwater.
The project aims to work with and enhance existing services to improve the health and wellbeing of a community through a series of health-focused initiatives that build on existing services and facilities.
The project will work to identify and address gaps in service provision locally in a collaborative manner and will support suicide prevention, intervention and postvention in Rural communities in North Cork through:
- Organising, delivering, and signposting to activities that promote good mental and physical health and wellbeing
- Planning and delivery of suicide prevention training
- Establishment of a suicide postvention network
- Supporting individuals and communities bereaved by suicide
The project welcomes referrals from healthcare professionals, community, and voluntary groups as well as self-referrals.
