New EU Data Protection regulation(GDPR) will come into effect on May 25th 2018. This regulation places significant additional responsibility on businesses that handle personal data and introduces significant penalties for businesses who do not comply.
This one-day training course will give attendees a solid understanding of data protection and will give practical advice on how to implement GDPR compliant practice across a range of business activities such as running a website, marketing activities, handling customer payments and providing customer service.

About the Tutor:
Marie Murphy is a co-founder and operations director of Fort Privacy Partners which offers a full range of operational, legal and technical data protection services.
Marie is a Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) with a background in business and communications.
Previously CEO of an internet start-up, she has first-hand experience of the data protection challenges facing business. As a result, Marie’s work focuses on providing practical, operational advice and solutions that can be applied to business.
Marie also specialises in Privacy by Design and trains on the topic for the Irish Computer Society as part of their European Certified Data Protection Officer Programme.
Marie’s philosophy is that data protection is not just about compliance. Done properly, it enables businesses to build trusted relationships with their customers. It ultimately benefits the business by enhancing the business reputation.
