Course Aims/Objectives: To provide participants with the skills, tools and knowledge to be able to optimise their website and be able to communicate effectively with their technical team.

Course Content: This workshop will take participants through the key steps to optimising their website for search engines like Google including:
• Understanding Google’s algorithms and how they work
• Understanding how Google works & key factors they take into account when ranking a website
• On-page SEO: How to optimise web pages and content for search engines. All participants will be provided with a SEO audit document where they can audit their own website throughout the course and after the course.
o Researching keywords – key tools and techniques used to identify target keywords
o Optimising page content – where to place the keywords for optimal impact
o Meta data – what it is and why it is important
o Internal and external links – why links are paramount to the success of a SEO project
o Content marketing and how that can impact a website SEO and build brand awareness
o Competitor research and analysis
o Technical issues e.g. speed. Technical aspects taught in a non-technical way
• Tracking – using Google analytics to monitor and analyse traffic
• Monitoring placement – introduction to key online tools like Google Search Console for
tracking SEO effectiveness
• Briefing your website developer: it is important that web developers are provided with the
correct details to ensure all required changes are implemented. Throughout the workshop
recommendations will be made on how to brief a web developer and a Website Brief template
will be provided electronically to all participants

Practical elements include:
• Keyword research
• Test their own website using free online tools
• Create an action plan – each participant will be given an action plan template and SEO checklist
to work throughout the day for implementation after the workshop
