This bespoke training programme, developed by UCC in conjunction with IRD Duhallow Skillnet and Kerry Agribusiness. offers farmers an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and work towards more sustainable practices on their farms. The programme will be co-funded by the Skillnet ESF+ Co Creation Programme.

The progamme which will run on a part time basis over 12 weeks will include a mix of online and in person sessions.

This innovative and adaptive programme has been designed to provide the learner with the practical and academic tools and skills and to equip students with necessary knowledge and information they will need to understand the challenges and ongoing issues of a changing climate. The course will examine these issues and challenges as they relate specifically to the Irish agricultural sector. It will introduce Irish farmers to how Ireland aims to become a climate resilient, environmentally sustainable and low carbon economy in the coming
decades. The course will examine and explore, amongst other issues, biodiversity and conservation on the farm, the waste and circular economy, pathways to carbon neutral
agricultural systems, the pathway to zero carbon, soil science and sustainable production and improved grassland management. The course will also examine the wider economic and political context at the macro level, Ireland’s legally binding sectoral emissions targets, the Paris climate agreement of 2015 for instance, and community leadership at the local level.

By expressing my interest I consent to the processing of my personal data and IRD Duhallow sharing my details with Kerry Agribusiness and the training company delivering this programme.
