IRD Duhallow Skillnet

Welcome to the IRD Duhallow Skillnet Page. The IRD Duhallow Skillnet was established in May of 2015. The concept behind it was to deliver training locally, thereby reducing the cost, and travel time for local businesses. In turn, enabling local businesses to upskill employees affordably in a locally accessible location. Since then, the network has grown from strength to strength and our Key Performance Indicators to date show that the Skillnet has supported the delivery of 781 Employed Trainees in the past 12 months and 69 Unemployed.

Skillnet Ireland’s Statement of Strategy 2016-2019 was released in July of last year and this identifies that Skillnet Ireland nationally has three main principles:

  1. Model of training Excellence
  2. Supplying Future Skills
  3. Increasing Employer Participation

Employment Activation Programme

IRD Duhallow Skillnet primarily focuses on supporting those in employment within the Duhallow region. Whilst our key focus is on the needs of member companies, we also offer a small number of fully-funded programmes for jobseekers, subject to eligibility criteria and places being available on the programme.

We offer a limited number of FREE places to those who are unemployed and seeking to increase their employment prospects through up-skilling in relevant training. If you are currently unemployed, you may be eligible to attend training with Duhallow Skillnet with no charge or impact on your social welfare payments or benefits (for those who are in receipt of such payments). Click eligibility criteria for more details.

Several other skillnet Networks participate in the Skillnet ireland Employment Activation programme. This initative is designed exclusively for unemployed people and includes free training in skills in demand by companies combined with direct access to employers through meaningful work placements. For information on other Skillnet Networks offering free training programmes for those seeking employment see the Skillnet Ireland Website: www.skillnetireland.ie
